03 September 2010 - Sovereign Health Care backs One in a Million

One in a Million has organised a footballing extravaganza to rival South Africa 2010.

The charity, which is based at Valley Parade and is committed to improving the lives of children and young people from the most disadvantaged background, is hosting the England Homeless World Cup team Vs their very own Celebrity 11 team.

The 90 minutes match takes place on 5th September and is a warm up for the England team prior to jetting off to Rio for the Homeless World Cup later in the month.

One in a Million’s Celebrity 11 team is made up of local sporting heroes such as Peter Taylor (BCFC), Simon Grayson (LUFC) and Neil Aspin (HTFC), plus celebrities like TV’s Tom Milner (Waterloo Road/Holby City). They will be battling against the England team, which includes homeless men from across the country who have been training together for the 2010 Homeless World Cup since the beginning of the year.

Sovereign Health Care first became involved with One in a Million after meeting with the charity’s founder Wayne Jacobs. Wayne contacted Sovereign when he was organising this event to ask if the local company would support the event and fund the programmes for the day. Sovereign Health Care has since made a £500 donation.

Talking about the event, Wayne said: “We’re delighted to partner with the England Homeless World Cup Team and support them in their efforts representing England at the Homeless World Cup.  This is a prestigious tournament and these players have overcome a lot to get there and we are delighted we can help.  This will be a great game against a very good side and our celebrity team is very much looking forward to playing them.  Please come and support this event and if you can’t make it then please donate however you can to make this a superb event and get behind the England team.”
