Yorkshire based Sovereign Health Care has donated £25,000 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), taking the total amount that the firm has donated over the last ten years, to in excess of £320,000.
The leading cash plan provider donated the funds from its Charitable Trust to help maintain the YAA’s two air ambulances and ensure they remain in the air.
The YAA provides a life saving rapid response emergency service seven days a week to five million people across the region. Last year, each helicopter was called out on average three times a day and carried nearly 500 patients directly to hospital.
Russ Piper, Chief Executive of Sovereign Health Care, said: “The swift medical interventions provided by the YAA crews have a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival and subsequent quality of life which is why we are proud to actively support the organisation.
“By making this latest donation, we are hoping to encourage more local firms to follow suit as the excellent service that the YAA provides for our communities is invaluable.”
The Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust has donated in excess of £3.5 million to community and health related charities over the past six years.
Paul Gowland, YAA Director of Fundraising added: “The generosity we receive from firms such as Sovereign Health Care is the lifeblood of the YAA. It is essential in enabling us to continue to provide our services across this busy summer period, when the population of Yorkshire tends to swell with visitors to the region. This can then have an increasing impact on the number of patients that the helicopters carry on a daily basis, as people are more active outdoors.”
