Need help claiming?

We take great pride in paying our customers claims promptly. We aim to process all claims within 3 working days of receipt (plus the time needed to settle in the banking system) ensuring you receive your money promptly. You can choose to have your claims paid by direct credit into a bank account or by cheque. As long as you claim within 12 months of the date any treatment was received or the completion date of any hospital treatment we will be happy to process your claim.

Claim immediately - cover from day one

Once you've taken out a Sovereign Health Care cash plan you can claim straight away for treatment received on or after your policy start date except for benefits with a qualifying period. Laser or refractive eye surgery (within the optical benefit) has a 12 month qualifying period. The birth/adoption benefit has a 6 month qualifying period. A 6 month qualifying period for pre-existing conditions applies on physiotherapy/osteopathy/chiropractic, hospital in-patient, recuperation, hospital day case admission, hospital consultant fees and diagnostic tests, hearing aids and specialist medical aids.

 

How do I make a claim?

Making a claim is simple. There are three different types of claim dependent upon what you're claiming for. For more details on how to make a claim, select the type of claim you're making from the options below and follow the instructions.

Standard claims - you have a receipt(s) and would like to claim some cash back

  • Download, print off and complete the appropriate sections on the health care cash plan claim form.
  • Double check that your receipt(s) details the name of the person who received treatment, the name of the practitioner, details of the treatment and the date it took place.
  • Send your completed claim form together with your original named receipt(s) to our claims department and we'll take it from there.

Hospital claims - you have been admitted as an in-patient or a day case

  • Download, print off and complete the appropriate sections on the health care cash plan claim form.
  • Ask the hospital to complete Section D with their details, the details of the procedure and they should also sign and stamp the form.
  • Send your completed claim form to our claims department and we will take it from there.

Birth/Adoption claims - available once you have completed the 6 month qualifying period

  • Download, print off and complete the appropriate sections on the health care cash plan claim form.
  • Send your completed claim form to our claims department along with a photocopy of the child's full birth certificate or adoption papers showing the name of the policy holder.

It depends upon the type of cash plan you hold with us, your chosen level of cover and the benefit you're claiming for. Your policy terms and conditions document provides full details but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to call us - we're here to help!

Did you know that you can claim for treatment received abroad?

You can claim for treatment received anywhere in the world from a qualified practitioner. For example if you buy your glasses whilst you're abroad, you can claim for these under your Sovereign Health Care cash plan. Claims paid for treatment received outside the UK are paid in pounds sterling at the prevailing exchange rate on the date we settle your claim.

Would you like to have your claims paid into a bank account instead of by cheque?

Direct credit is an easy way to have your claims paid straight into a bank account of your choice. Setting up direct credit on your policy means that you don't have the hassle of having to pay a cheque into the bank and then waiting for it to clear. Also you don't have to worry about cheques getting lost or delayed in the post.
