The Christmas celebrations give you the perfect opportunity to say thanks to your workforce after a year of hard work. But with so much to choose from and budgets to consider, picking the right reward for your employees can be difficult.

To help, we’ve looked at seven different ways you can thank your staff this festive season.

1. Getting creative

A great way to say thanks to your staff is by hosting an evening where they can let their creative juices flow. For a festive tipple, throw a cocktail making class with an expert mixologist and get your team in the Christmas spirit – you can book a local bar for this, or even bring the class to your workplace. Or perhaps channel your staff’s baking skills and throw your very own Great British Bake Off themed party, with prizes for the best ‘Showstoppers’. Or have a festive crafting event, where your workforce can learn a new skill, making wreaths, gifts and decorations.

2. Wielding the axe – in a good way!

This unique stress-reliever can also be a fun event for your staff this festive season. There’s been a boom in the popularity of axe throwing over recent years, with more indoor venues opening to accommodate this ‘sport’. Why not take your team and see who comes out on top. Whilst it might sound like a dangerous sport, don’t worry as health and safety is at the forefront of this activity – with the axe throwing carried out in a safe and controlled environment

3. Racing around the Christmas tree

Swap the wheels of your office chairs for the wheels of a go-kart and take your staff for a few laps around the track! Go-karting is a fun way for your staff to bond with one another as they race around the circuit – you could put them into teams too and turn it into a team building event. Just make sure all your staff pay close attention to the safety briefing beforehand to ensure everyone races carefully and safely.

4. The latest gadgets

Wearable technology has become part of our everyday lives, from keeping track of our daily steps to recording how well we’ve slept, so why not treat your staff to a piece of the latest must-have gadgetry –  it could encourage your staff to be more health aware, whilst also thanking them for their hard work. Check out our blog on how health and fitness technology can be of benefit, and the options available.

5. The great escape

An escape room could be a really fun treat for your staff, whilst also encouraging them to work together as a team. Rooms are based on different themes and, essentially, all players must work together to solve a series of puzzles in order to ‘escape’ before the time runs out. Escape rooms have increased in popularity across the UK in recent years, with over 250 venues across the country – so you should be able to find one close by.

6. Giving the gift of time

With all the preparation that goes in to celebrating Christmas, time is definitely of the essence during the festive period. And with work on top of everything else, your workforce might feel like they aren’t getting much of a break at all! To give them a helping hand, rewarding them with some paid time off could be a great option. Whether it’s allowing them an additional day or half day’s leave to do their Christmas shopping or shutting up shop early on Christmas Eve, it’s something they’ll be sure to appreciate.

7. Look after their health all year round

For the gift that keeps giving, you could thank your staff with a health care cash plan. From as little as £4.15 per employee, per month, your employees can claim cash back towards their everyday health costs, including glasses and contact lenses, dental costs, physiotherapy, chiropody and much more. As well as helping to keep your employees healthy, it can also benefit your business –  they’ll no longer need to delay treatment because of the cost, which could result in faster diagnosis and treatment, meaning they return to work quicker or even don’t need to take time off at all.
