Award-winning independent veterinary practice Stanley House Veterinary Surgeons has appointed Sovereign Health Care to provide their employees with a health care cash plan, as part of an ongoing commitment to retain staff and keep its people fit and healthy.
The Colne-based practice, which was established in 1921, implemented the plan as part of a wider strategy to provide incentives for employees. As a result of its efforts to support their staff, the practice was voted Employer of the Year, at the Pendle Business Awards 2016, with employees highlighting a health care plan as a leading reason as to why it’s great to work at the company.
The company’s 61 employees can claim money back for the cost of everyday health care, such as dental treatment, eye tests, glasses, contact lenses, physiotherapy, and much more.
Commenting on the cash plan, Elizabeth Edmondson Day, practice manager at Stanley House Veterinary Surgeons, said: “We chose Asset from Sovereign as a staff benefit alongside other incentives including corporate gym membership; a cycle to work scheme and KiddiVouchers.
“Sovereign’s plan offered the most comprehensive cover for the monthly premium and we’ve found that colleagues are very grateful when they receive money back for routine health care. It’s also useful when someone has a serious problem because they can claim towards a private consultation fee and access treatment quicker.
“The process of starting the scheme was simple and we found it easy to promote. This was mainly due to the clear and well-presented information and marketing materials Sovereign provided.”
Emma Gatenby, corporate account manager at Sovereign Health Care, said: “The plan implemented by Stanley House Veterinary Surgeons is a cost-effective and simple way of improving employee wellbeing and we are delighted its employees have welcomed the plan.
“We know employee incentives that cater for the wellbeing of staff, such as a health care plan, help increase morale and even reduce sickness, providing tangible health benefits for staff, which in turn benefits the business.”
Sovereign Health Care’s Asset plan works by paying employees tax-free cash back towards everyday health care costs. The Asset plan includes access to a leading Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which provides employees with confidential support, assistance and counselling when required, which helps businesses to meet duty of care requirements. It also includes personal accident cover up to £20,000 as standard.
Stanley House Veterinary Surgeons is an independent veterinary practice, offering a first opinion service and high quality veterinary care to small animals, horses and farm animals in Pendle, Burnley and surrounding areas. It is also an approved veterinary nurse training centre and an approved member of the Royal College Practice Standards Scheme.
Sovereign Health Care is one of the UK’s longest established providers of health care cash plans to individuals and businesses. Based in Manningham Lane, Bradford, Sovereign has no shareholders – any surplus profit is reinvested or awarded to community of charitable initiatives.
