Here at Sovereign Health Care, we’re delighted to announce the news that 2023 saw us donate a record £970,000 to the NHS across Yorkshire.

Here’s a breakdown of how that funding was used:

£105,000 for nurse training and hospital grants across Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust, Bradford District Care Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Harrogate and District Trust, Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust, Airedale Trust, and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.

£500,000 to help fund Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ new da Vinci surgical robot, enabling their surgical teams to deliver a wider range of surgical procedures more quickly and efficiently.

£250,000 to support the purchase of a state-of-the-art MRI scanner at Wakefield’s Pinderfields Hospital as part of a £6m radiology services redevelopment.

£30,000 to fund staff awards for the hard-working teams at Leeds, Bradford and Airedale Hospital Trusts.

£25,000 towards the refurbishment of Airedale’s A&E Department, including upgrading its vital paediatric resuscitation and waiting areas, and bereavement facilities.

£25,000 to help fund an MRI compatible ventilator for Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), allowing patients to receive MRI scans while remaining ventilated.

£30,432 to help refurbish the Neurology Day Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, benefitting more than 1000 patients every year.

£4,800 worth of presents to children spending Christmas in hospital at Calderdale, Leeds, Bradford, Pinderfields and Airedale hospitals.

As a not-for-profit organisation, supporting local hospitals has been part of our DNA since we were founded over 150 years ago as the Hospital Fund of Bradford – in total, we’ve donated more than £3.3million to the NHS over the last 17 years.

Our Chief Executive, Neil McCallum, said: “2023 was a landmark year for us in terms of NHS support. As the UK population continues to increase and many of us are living longer, so the demands on NHS services have grown, making Sovereign’s funding to local Trusts more important than ever.  Our funding has a direct positive impact on the lives of local people and the teams that work so hard in our hospitals, and we look forward to continuing to support Yorkshire’s NHS Trusts in 2024.”
