Charitable trust

Sovereign Health Care is proud of its long history of charitable giving through the Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust. In particular, over the past 6 years we have donated in excess of £3.5 million to community and health related charities. These donations have helped to support the delivery of health care and welfare services and to fund pioneering research.

The Sovereign Health Care Charitable Trust is funded from the commercial side of our organisation. The money we donate is from investment returns and surpluses generated over many years. 

Despite the tough economic climate, we were able to maintain our charitable giving in 2009 and we donated over £550,000 during the course of the year. Detailed below are some of the beneficiaries.

• Sue Ryder Care - Manorlands Hospice - £42,000
• Heartbeat Appeal - £37,000
• Bradford Cancer Support - £25,000
• Bradford Soup Run - £20,000
• Heart Research UK - £20,000
• West Yorkshire Medical Response Team - £17,000
• Motor Neurone Disease Association - £10,000
• Breast Cancer Haven - £7,500
• Epilepsy Action - £5,000
